Eyelid surgery, otherwise referred to as blepharoplasty, can be used to treat a wide variety of aesthetic issues in and around the surrounding tissues. Some of the more common issues surgery can treat are excess skin on the eyelids and sagging or hollowed areas under the eyes. With surgery, you can permanently enhance your look by removing and reconstructing excess skin around the eyes.

In the weeks before the procedure, you will likely be asked to avoid the use of any Advil, Motrin or other types of aspirin, as it can pose a bleeding risk during the surgery.

On the day of surgery, make sure your home or place or recovery is stocked and equipped with plenty of ice cubes, ice packs, gauze, eye drops and clean washcloths.

Swelling around the eyes generally reaches its max on the second day. In addition, the patient should make sure that a ride home is ready and available soon after surgery.
